This was my 3rd graphic for the paper, and I spent a whopping 12 hours on this. I especially enjoyed drawing all the clothes that the little mannequins wore (and found time and space to include easter eggs like rabbits). The guy is modeled after Gael Garcia Bernal, he is wearing Bernal-brand shorts, the micro-text in the book he’s holding is a line from one of my favourite books, The Catcher in the Rye, and one of the mannequins was modeled after a friend of mine. My favourite bit of the entire picture is the little stubble the guy sports – courtesy of a wonderful tutorial I found online. This is the last one of my images where my people are not faceless.
